Gallery: Subaru WRX STI long-termer road trip

There's a lot to see in this big country of ours, and few better ways to see than by car.

A long road trip consisting mostly of highway driving might not have played to the Subaru WRX STI's strengths - the ride is too firm, the seats are too hard and it's not particularly economical - but there were plenty of things to see along the way.

Above are some quick iPhone shots snapped during the three-day trip, which took us from Melbourne to Sydney via the Hume, then back through Canberra, an overnight stop in Jindabyne to check out Mount Kosciuszko, then through Bombala back to Melbourne.

Highlights of the trip included the spectacular scenery of our highest mountain range, an excellent Italian feed in Jindabyne, followed by a cracking bit of road the next morning linking Jindabyne and Bombala.

Lowlights? Australian speed limits, the monotonous drone of the Hume, and the world's weirdest antique shop in Cann River.
