Maserati’s fastest-ever car is bound for Australia, with the first to arrive in June. The Gran Turismo MC Stradale is 110kg lighter than the Gran Turismo S, and work on the 4,7-litre V8 engine boosts power to 331kW, and torque to 510Nm.

Despite stripping so much mass out of the car, Maserati insists the ideal 48:52 front-to-rear weight distribution has been retained. Most of the weight saved comes from the use of a pair of carbonfibre race-style front seats, and the removal of much of the Gran Turismo’s soundproofing. The rear chairs have also been removed entirely, making it the first two-seat Maserati since the MC12, which was built purely for FIA GT homologation.

The MC Stradale is equipped with carbon-ceramic brakes and an upgraded version of the six-speed MC Race Shift transaxle gearbox.

“As the name suggests, [the MC Stradale] is a road going version of the Maserati Trofeo and GT4 racing cars, with the heightened performance, sharpened reflexes and heightened visual presence that this requires,” says Maserati Australia boss, Glen Sealey.

The MC Stradale will be available in short supply, and will cost $364,900.
