It appears the Northern Territory government’s decision to derestrict sections of the Stuart Highway has proved an irresistible carrot to the crew of the world’s biggest car show.
First reported by Behind the Wheel, English tourist Emily Worrall (@EmilyWorrall) snapped off these shots of Clarkson, Hammond and May filling up at the Adelaide River service station in which she works.
The UK crew are no doubt filming one of their epic road trip adventures, in which each of the presenters chooses a car and a number of challenges are given. One of the challenges will definitely be a drag race, with the trio filmed by Facebook user Wesley Gottliebsen at a local airstrip.
Clarkson is driving a BMW M6 Gran Coupe, May is in a Nissan R35 GT-R and Hammond has chosen the very same Bentley Continental V8 S that we drove earlier this year.
Filming for the new series has been underway for a while now, the trio recently hitting the headlines after being chased out of Argentina.
The derestricted highways of the Northern Territory were once worth big money as a manufacturer test site and it appears that once again Australia is on the motoring map.
