Sergio Marchionne only took control moments ago, yet Ferrari has already released a limited-edition model called the ‘Sergio’ – is this the first sign of a new dictatorial age at Maranello?

No, actually. The Sergio being honoured in this instance is Sergio Pininfarina, the head of the iconic Italian design house.

The Ferrari Sergio celebrates 60 years of collaboration between the two pillars of the Italian automotive industry, a partnership which started with the 250 and has included almost every significant Ferrari since, including the Daytona, F40, Enzo and F12.

Just six of the 458 Spider-based Sergios will be built, all fitted with the latest 447kW spec 4.5-litre V8 lifted from the 458 Speciale.

Unsurprisingly, Pininfarina is responsible for the Sergio’s styling, though only the extremely generous would describe it as the firm’s best work.

It looks remarkably like a tuner version of the Lotus Europa, especially with the gold wheels – is it any wonder that the first example is destined for Abu Dhabi?

Fear not, to take your mind off the Sergio, we’ve gathered together five of the finest Ferraris ever to be penned in the house of Pininfarina.
