Mini’s infused its five-door Cooper S with juicy JCW bits to create the limited run Carbon Edition.
Cooper S fans will be treated to more power, a sharpened chassis, and meaner exterior in the 40 special editions due for Oz that pinch bits from the JCW.
The JCW’s engine tune and sports exhaust has allowed the 2.0-litre turbo four in the Carbon Edition's nose to inflate outputs by 14kW/20Nm. It takes total figures to 155kW and 300Nm, less than the JCW, but gifts it the same loveable burps and hiccups.
The auto-only Carbon Edition also offers the visual punch of the JCW. Mini’s fitted a front and rear bar, rear spoiler, and gloss black 17-inch wheels as part of a John Cooper Works Aerodynamic package.
Meanwhile, carbon fibre exterior mirror caps, exhaust tips, and bonnet scoop give pay its name tribute. And they’re matched to further unique details like front-to-back matte racing strips, door decals, and JCW centre caps.
But there’s extra kit to justify its specialty. The chassis benefits from the JCW’s adjustable dampers, while the interior cops the fast-Mini’s sport seats, steering wheels, and shifter.
CARBON reads across the front doors just in case owners forget why they forked out extra cash. And priced at $56,900, the Carbon Edition will be the most expensive Cooper on sale at $6950 more than the JCW.
