Porsche 911 cops power hike main

A power package is now available across the Porsche 911 Carrera S and 4S range, endowing its 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine with a larger pair of turbos for a 22kW boost.

Timed to coincide with Model Year 2018 (MY18) updates across the Porsche range, the $24,580 Carrera S power pack takes power from 309kW to 331kW – now matching the Carrera GTS – while torque remains at 500Nm.

Porsche 911 Carrera SDespite the MY18 Carrera S moving up in price by $3800 to $256,300 plus on-road costs, and the power pack adding a further $24,580 as a factory option, it remains cheaper than the MY18 Carrera GTS in all its dark-badged, Alcantara-clad goodness at $282,700 (plus orc).

Picking the power pack also brings an added brake cooling system, unique twin-central sports exhaust and a Sport Chrono package normally priced at $3890 alone – incorporating dynamic engine mounts, launch control, analogue and digital stopwatch, an extra steering wheel dial with additional Sport Plus mode, throttle-blip downshifting in Sport and Sport Plus, and a performance display with shift indicator.

porsche 911 gtsAlthough a factory fitted option, Porsche says that from June 2017 the power pack will be able to be retrofitted to existing 911 S models if already equipped with Sport Chrono.

Meanwhile other price rises accompany Porsche’s MY18 changes, with new exterior and interior colours, and added features to the Porsche Connect suite.

Porsche 718 CaymanThe 718 Cayman moves from $110,000 to $115,600 and the 718 Boxster from $112,800 to $118,400, while the entry 911 Carrera shifts from $217,500 to $221,200 and the Macan GTS shifts from $109,200 to $114,000 plus costs. The Cayenne GTS makes a smaller jump from $156,100 to $158,000 plus costs.
