Maybach’s twin-turbo V12 limo still sits atop the Pullman range

There’s a new top-dog in the Maybach range as the Pullman limo has received a facelift.

The Mercedes-Maybach S650 Pullman now pumps out 463kW/1000Nm from its 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12.

But who cares? If you buy one, you probably won’t be driving it. That and it still only hits 100km/h in 6.5 seconds. It’s a limo, after all.

The front of the Pullman is adorned with a “reinterpretation of the Mercedes-Maybach radiator grille,” which consists of vertical lines inspired by a pinstriped suit. Very old school, Maybach.

The style was first seen on the Mercedes-Maybach 6, the two-door cabriolet which resembled a futuristic land-yacht.

The iconic 10-hole design of the 20-inch wheels signify the Maybach as being the top of the range, if the fact it’s a 6.5m-long limo doesn’t already give you a hint.

Inside, two passengers sit in the ‘executive’ seats which face forward, though they can be joined by two more passengers who sit facing them in reverse.

The rear cabin (or “tastefully appointed club lounge”) can be separated from the driver’s cabin by a privacy screen, and can even separate its sound system to operate independently of the front.

Passengers can also see what’s happening in the direction of travel via a front-view camera, with a monitor in the rear of the cabin.

To let you in on some media knowledge, it’s uncharacteristic for a press release to reveal a car’s price early on if it’s not going to be a bargain.

The Pullman, however, “starts at around half a million euro,” signifying that Maybach knows its customers likely won’t miss “around” 500 big ones from their bank accounts. Specifics be damned.
