And he’s even put his name down to order one

With the Aston Martin Valkyrie on the horizon, it’s no surprise there’s some excitement building around the anticipated hypercar.

Even F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo sounds keen on it, so much so that he’s put his name on the ordering list to pick one up.

“It would have been rude not to!” Ricciardo told us at a press event in Melbourne.

But if you had the chance to perfectly tune your car before it was build, wouldn’t you?

“I think when it first got announced, I thought ‘if you’ve got to test this car, I’d be happy to!’

“It’s such a hypercar, obviously it’s road legal but it is going to be such a beast but as far as getting that little bit more out of it, it will require a race car driver to help develop it and just set it up well

“It also helps to understand that if something’s awesome on a racetrack, it might be too stiff over bumps [on the road].

“I think whichever way they go with it, they will need some kind of professional setting it up. I’m certainly open to getting out and [doing it].

And, as mentioned, he has good reason to want the car to be at its best.

“I’ve ordered one, but it’d be nice to thrash someone else’s!”

“I think to be honest, if I didn’t [order one], I would have been like ‘Ahh, I really should have,’ especially because I’m linked so closely with the team and potentially involved in part of the Valkyrie.

Teammate Max Verstappen told us a similar story when we spoke to him.

“Yeah I think we’re already talking about it already, I think it’s going to be a very interesting and fast car for sure.

“It will be something different to what people are used to out there on the road.”
